Central Christian Church

Come. Let's make a world of difference.

Movies for Justice

Central's call to confront injustice and oppression can be a difficult one.  To advocate or even to begin to understand entails hearing the stories - stories of war, of rape, of abuse and torture.  We have watched movies on injustice and misunderstanding and seemingly unbearable pain.  Few were uplifting.  And yet, many are movies that are thought about again and again such as Soldiers of Conscience or the selection of short videos on School of the Americas.  The attendance for these films is small - a handful who gather based on the topic, and it is in the wrestling with the questions afterward that bring more value to this time together.  It is a time for realizing there is no easy answer, that most who attend are privileged and as such have a responsibility to witness and to advocate for change at all levels.  And it isn’t easy. Perhaps it is not supposed to be.

Movie's for Justice for 2011-2012 are scheduled on the first Friday of October (10/7), December (12/2), February (2/3) and April (4/6).  For information on the next movie showing, check the calendar or send an email to office@indyccc.org
