Covid Protocols
3/30/23 Update: Central Christian staff and officers made the decision this week to close the section for social distancing in the northwest corner of the Sanctuary. Over the past several months, Sunday morning attendance has continued to increase, while the number of congregants using the section for masking and distancing has decreased. We understand and encourage those who wish to continue masking and sitting away from the center of the Sanctuary. We also ask for understanding, hospitality and flexibility as our weekly attendance increases.
In a special meeting held on April 11, 2022, officers and staff discussed Covid protocols and decided on the following changes, which will go into effect on Sunday, April 24, 2022.
Sunday morning worship
Masks – Will be optional, however are encouraged for any who feel safer using them, including while the congregation is singing. There will be a section in the sanctuary specifically for those who wish to remain masked and social distanced. Door 3 will be the access to that section in the sanctuary. Greeters and Deacons will be masked while greeting and serving communion. The choir may sing without masks.
Communion – Central Christian will continue to offer pre-packaged communion. The option of pre-cut bread and individual cups will be made available as well.
Singing – Masks will be optional, and some may wish to wear masks specifically during singing.
Fellowship Time – May be moved outside, weather permitting. Refreshments may be served if there are adequate volunteers to prepare and clean up.
Doors/Traffic – Door 3 will be designated as an entry to the socially distanced section in the sanctuary. Doors 2, 3, 4, and 5 will be opened on Sundays by 10am.
Other
Outreach Ministries (clothing & food) – Individual groups will be empowered to decide appropriate protocol. Masks will continue to be mandatory for another month for Free Clothing and the Thrift Shop.
Church Meetings (other than Sunday) – Leave the decision to individual groups, offer flexibility and continue to offer Zoom. Groups are encouraged to be sensitive to the needs of the most vulnerable.
Other Groups that use the building – Empower them to make their own decisions.
General Reminders
Greeting One Another – Please remember that not everyone feels comfortable with hugging, so check first as you are greeting others.
If you are not feeling well, please stay home. This is to reduce the spread of not only Covid but other communicable diseases.
Please be flexible! We believe these changes are responsible and consistent with the data we have. As we have learned, things can (will) change so we may need to make different choices at any point in the future.
