Once again we are gathering the "Keepers of the Ark" for a Saturday Morning work session on August 18 from 8:30am-12pm. A light breakfast will be provided along with coffee and juice. There will be various activities from light to moderately heavy, all depending on your skills and condition levels. All are welcome. There's something for everyone to take part in. You can come for all or part of the time as your schedule permits. Youngsters are welcome as long as you're comfortable with them working alongside your elbows. This really is a great opportunity to get to know the physical aspects of the church and accomplish some fix-up/clean-up that is always needed for this Ole Ark.
Come join us!

“Waking Up White” Spiritual Growth Class Sunday, Sunday, May 20

Sunday, April 29, Noon – 2 pm (including lunch); Sunday May 6; Tuesday, May 15*, 7:00 – 8:30 pm; and Sunday, May 20.

Join us Sunday for the final meeting.

Tuesday evening, the “Waking Up White” group focused on institutional racism.  Institutional racism is the ways in which the structures, policies and procedures of institutions are founded upon and then promote, reproduce and perpetuate advantages for white people and the oppression of people of color.  We shared about our experiences of institutional racism and how the structures of a predominately white society favor white people.  Where have you seen institutions and the structure of society favoring white people over persons of color?  Have you spoken up in those instances or just accepted it as normal reality?
We also watched a video about how the racist institutions of plantations, Jim Crow laws, ghettos, and prisons produced, reproduced and renewed racism as an enduring part of the United States.  You can watch this video here.

Narcan Training

Narcan Training

Did you know that Indianapolis had over 1500 opioid overdoses last year? That is how many times emergency services administered Narcan, the antidote to opioids. With the influx of synthetic fentanyl, communities around the Midwest are seeing cluster overdose events. As a downtown church with many outreach ministries, it behooves us to have trained Narcan administrators on hand. If you are interested in knowing more please come to the educational event on Wednesday April 18th from 5:30-6:30pm. This event is open to all.

Please call Jennifer at the Marion County Public Health Dept. to register: 317-221-4618.

June 10 185th anniversary picnic for Central

Let's plan to celebrate, eat, laugh, remember the past and dream about the future together on this special Sunday!

We will gather together around a meal after worship, on June 10, to celebrate the church's 185th anniversary! The Community Team will provide chicken, rolls and drinks and you can bring your favorite side dish or dessert to share. If there's no rain, we will serve the food in the Fellowship Hall and take our plates across the street to the green space to enjoy sunshine and a picnic together outside! If there should be rain, our plan B will be to gather together in the Community Room downstairs. Let's plan to celebrate, eat, laugh, remember the past and dream about the future together on this special Sunday!

Volunteers are needed for set up and clean up! Please drop Dawn Barnes an email if you can help out with either of these at wienny1@aol.com or a text at 317.447.3717.
